La fibra polivin\u00edlica formal obtenida tratando esta fibra con formaldeh\u00eddo se denomina vinil\u00f3n en China y vinil\u00f3n en el mundo. Las fibras obtenidas hilando alcohol polivin\u00edlico de peso molecular relativamente bajo como materia prima son solubles en agua y se denominan fibras de alcohol polivin\u00edlico solubles en agua. Las fibras de alcohol polivin\u00edlico generales no tienen la resistencia necesaria al agua caliente y tienen poco valor de aplicaci\u00f3n pr\u00e1ctica.
