Mais sa temp\u00e9rature de g\u00e9lification dans l'eau chaude est nettement plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e que celle de la m\u00e9thylcellulose. La dissolution dans l'eau froide est \u00e9galement nettement am\u00e9lior\u00e9e par rapport \u00e0 la m\u00e9thylcellulose. L'hydroxypropylm\u00e9thylcellulose est stable aux acides et aux alcalis, et sa solution aqueuse est tr\u00e8s stable dans la plage de pH=2~12. La soude caustique et l'eau de chaux ont peu d'effet sur ses performances, mais les alcalis peuvent acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer sa dissolution et augmenter sa viscosit\u00e9.
