Fully Hydrolyzed PVA

Fully Hydrolyzed PVA is a synthetic polymer derived from the complete hydrolysis of polyvinyl acetate (PVAc), where nearly all acetyl groups (–OCOCH₃) are replaced by hydroxyl groups (–OH). This high degree of alcoholysis (typically ≥ 98 mole%) results in a polymer with strong hydrogen bonding, high crystallinity, and notable thermal stability.

It dissolves readily in hot water (>80°C) but exhibits limited solubility in cold water, unlike partially alcoholized PVA. Film-Forming Ability: Forms transparent, flexible, and mechanically robust films with excellent barrier properties against gases and oils. Chemical Resistance: Resistant to organic solvents, oils, and greases due to its highly polar structure. Biodegradability: Environmentally friendly, as it degrades under microbial action.
