PVA 0388

PVA 0388 is a low-molecular-weight, partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol with a degree of polymerization (DP) ~300 and a hydrolysis degree of ~88 mole%, produced via hydrolysis of polyvinyl acetate.

Key Features:
Appearance: White to slightly yellowish fine powder or granules.
Solubility: Rapid dissolution in cold or warm water, yielding very low-viscosity solutions (lower than PVA 0588). Ideal for applications requiring minimal fluid thickness.
Film Properties: Forms thin, flexible films with moderate adhesion and faster drying times compared to higher-DP grades.
Chemical Behavior: Retains residual acetyl groups, improving compatibility with both hydrophilic and hydrophobic components.
