PVA as a new environmentally friendly material

Biodegradable plastics represented by PLA and PBAT have begun to usher in an outbreak, and PVA has also quietly entered the ranks of alternatives to traditional plastics and developed various applications. If made into PVA film to replace traditional plastic film, it can be used in plastic bags, food packaging and other fields.

Pure PVA film has poor water resistance and is greatly limited in practical applications. Therefore, in most cases, it needs to be modified and prepared, such as the preparation of water-soluble film materials whose main raw materials are PVA resin and oxidized starch. In recent years, water-soluble environmental protection bag products with PVA, glycerol, starch, etc. as the main raw materials have been launched, which can be rapidly dissolved in water at 70 °C, and the degradation rate can reach more than 90% in a composting environment within 180 days.
