Medium Hydrolyzed PVA

Medium Hydrolyzed PVA is a partially hydrolyzed PVA with an alcoholysis degree typically below 85 mole%, retaining a significant portion of acetyl groups (–OCOCH₃) alongside hydroxyl groups (–OH). This structure grants it unique solubility and compatibility properties distinct from fullyalcoholyzed PVA.

Cold Water Solubility: Dissolves readily in cold or ambient-temperature water (20–30°C), enabling ease of use in low-energy processes. Low Crystallinity: Flexible, less brittle films with reduced hydrogen bonding due to residual acetyl groups. Hydrophobic Compatibility: Enhanced affinity with non-polar materials (e.g., oils, waxes) for hybrid formulations. Adhesive Tackiness: Exhibits higher initial tack compared to fully hydrolyzed PVA, ideal for quick-bonding applications.
