The main disadvantage of polyvinyl alcohol fiber

The main disadvantage of polyvinyl alcohol fiber is poor dyeability, low dyeing amount, and not bright color. This is because the fiber has a skin-core structure and some hydroxyl groups are blocked by acetalization. In addition, the hot water resistance of polyvinyl alcohol fiber is poor, and obvious shrinkage and deformation will occur when the temperature exceeds 110-115 °C in the wet state. The polyvinyl alcohol fiber fabric will partially dissolve after being placed in boiling water for 3 to 4 hours. Furthermore, the elasticity of polyvinyl alcohol fiber is not as good as that of other synthetic fibers such as polyester, and its fabric is not stiff enough, and it is prone to wrinkling during consumption.
